Ourzazate

Ouarzazate (called The door of the desert) is a Moroccan city at the southern part of the country. It is situated at the crossroads of the roads of Marrakech and Agadir. It hosts the biggest movie studio in the world. Several historical movies were shot on those studios (e.g. Asterix et Cleopatre, Cleopatra, Kundun, Gladiator and lately Alexander and Kingdom of Heaven.

Some excursions into the Sahara Desert start from the city, thus the label The door of the desert.
